How to Ask for Help Without Feeling Guilty
A short, plain-language guide from Grace on why asking for support is a strength, not a burden.

Caregiving is one of the hardest jobs there is. Asking for help is not giving up — it is planning ahead.
Start small: name one task you can hand off this week. Groceries. A doctor's ride. An hour of company. Ask two people, not one, so nobody feels cornered. Be specific: 'Can you sit with Mom Tuesday from 2–4?' works better than 'Let me know if you can help.'
When someone says no, thank them and move on. When someone says yes, tell them exactly what you need and let them do it their way.
Checklist
- Pick one task to hand off this week
- Write down two people to ask
- Say exactly what you need and when
- Thank them either way
- Repeat next week
